Editor's Review
Buy The Pound Thrift Store in Kansas City, MO, provides a unique shopping experience that sets it apart from traditional thrift stores. The pricing model, which charges customers by the pound, has received widespread praise. As Sherry Stark joyfully noted, "You basically pick through bins full of misc stuff. Then when you get ready to check out they weigh your cart and you pay by the pound! What a great way to do it!!" This quirky method not only encourages customers to sift through a variety of items but also makes the thrill of finding a treasure even more satisfying. Many shoppers leave with bags full of eclectic finds at prices that feel like a steal.
However, the store is not without its challenges. Some reviews point out that the inventory can be hit or miss. Stephanie Pfeiffer mentioned her visit on a Saturday evening, remarking on the limited selection, especially for men's clothing and housewares. This inconsistency seems to be a common theme, as some patrons, like Nathanual Miller, expressed concerns about the cleanliness of the bins, saying, "The bins had a lot of junk in them and dirty. Was worried would bring bugs home." Such mixed experiences indicate that while there are gems to be found, shoppers may need to dig a little deeper and visit multiple times to truly enjoy what this store has to offer.
Another recurring sentiment among customers involves the neighborhood's reputation. Concerns about safety and cleanliness have been raised, with some patrons feeling uneasy during their visit. Despite these drawbacks, many continue to appreciate the friendly staff and the potential for excellent hauls. In the end, Buy The Pound offers a treasure hunt vibe, satisfying those who enjoy the thrill of thrift shopping, albeit with a few caveats.

Went in around 6pm on a saturday, which may have been why they did not have a lot of stuff other than womens clothes. Wish, they had more mens clothes and housewares. But, did find some good stufff and the price was good.
Wanted to like this thrift, but they called the police on an established organization feeding the homeless outside their location and that shows the type of people they are. If you care about your community, I wouldn’t give these people a cent.
